Upgrades on Ashburton Downs Road
Endurance has co-funded three new floodways on Ashburton Downs Road in partnership with the Shire of Meekatharra.
The new floodways will assist the recovery time following high rainfall events, ensuring that trucks can be quickly mobilised to bring in supplies, and reduce interruptions of delivering silver and lead concentrate to market.
It’s expected the $5 million project will increase road accessibility from 78% to 86%, reducing logistic risks of operating in a sub-tropical climate.
The road upgrades will also benefit the wider community by improving wet season access and making transport safer for everyone using this key regional route.
Construction commenced in October 2025, with the full works programme expected to be completed by February 2026. Two of the crossings, Gascoyne and Cungina, were completed and accessible prior to Christmas.
Said Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Matthew Hine:
“Construction is well progressed. Two of the floodway crossing upgrades on the Ashburton Downs Road are now complete with the third ontrack for next month.
“This will improve Abra’s supply and logistics chain and provide greater regional access for local pastoralists, businesses and our broader community. We are pleased to partner with the Shire of Meekatharra on co-funding these important regional upgrades.”
